During the meeting, Shinde and Kohli discussed sports infrastructure and the development of young athletes. They also discussed Maharashtra schemes such as Ladli Behna, along with major projects including Atal Setu and metro expansions.
Shinde also described Kohli as down-to-earth and praised the goodwill gesture during their meeting in London.
During his UK visit, Shinde received the Statesmanship Award for Transformative Leadership from the World Leadership Forum and India-UK European Business Forum. He dedicated the award to the people of Maharashtra and highlighted the state's strong GDP, startup and FDI rankings.
The award, however, also drew questions over its organizers, who were described as recently registered entities linked to BJP supporters. Questions were also raised over the use of public funds and a companion's past involvement in a 2025 Mumbai incident.
Shinde's meeting with Kohli, alongside his UK engagements and the award, brought together discussions on sports, youth development, Maharashtra's schemes and infrastructure projects, while also drawing scrutiny over the circumstances surrounding the recognition.
